Emergent Cycles

Emergent Cycles uses sound and movement to honor states of transformation, transition, and vulnerability created by Judette Elliston & Mackenzie Nye. The piece is inspired by a vivid dream Judette once believed was a premonition, but later understood as a catalyst for change. Mackenzie uses the story of this dream as an improvisational score to guide the tone and temporality of their movement, while musician Judette Elliston creates textures with synthesizer, voice, and field recordings that move between soundscapes and song form. Emergent Cycles is a durational meditation on liminality, a spiritual healing that the artists invite the audience to witness and be a part of.
