Judette Elliston has a deep passion for interpreting Haitian folkloric music in their solo and collaborative projects. What began as a calling to learn more about their culture became an essential part of Elliston’s artistry; a source of solace rooted in research and re-membering. Elliston’s experience as a Haitian in the diaspora along with their love of jazz strongly influence their arrangements of this repertoire, resulting in a deeply personal contribution to the tradition of mizik rasin.

In July 2023 Elliston recorded this repertoire with Charles Goold and Odin Scherer at The Looking Glass Arts Barn. Their EP set for release in 2024.
